FM/PM Out-of-Band Calibration

(Option UNJ or Option 506 Only)

Description

The “FM In-Band DAC Offset Calibration” on page 4-17 must be performed prior to this calibration.

This calibration is used to calibrate the FM/PM out-of-band paths on the A16 Frac-N (Option UNJ or Option

506) and A21 YTO Driver (Option UNJ or Option 506). The internal ABUS is connected to the phase lock loop

integrator node on each board, and the attenuators and DAC are adjusted to minimize the voltage. This

ensures that the in-band and out-of-band paths are matched. The high-bandwidth phase modulation

out-of-band calibration (which is part of this calibration) is performed with a measuring receiver.

Required Test Equipment

• Agilent 3458A Option 002 digital multimeter

• Agilent 8902A measuring receiver

• Agilent 33120A function generator

Procedure

1. Connect the equipment as shown above.

2. Preset all of the equipment.

3. Follow the instructions as they appear on the controller’s display.
