Phase Locked Loops (PLL) are used in a wide variety
of applications including clock extraction circuits,
multiplier/dividers, and PLLs. Understanding their
performance is of critical importance due to their
influence on jitter. Option 400 is a PC based application
that characterizes PLL bandwidth and peaking by
controlling a precision jitter source and receiver.

To ensure that digital communication systems approach
error-free performance, data test patterns that emulate
actual traffic are often used. Option 401 is a PC based
application that overcomes pattern length limitations of
test equipment and performs:
• Jitter measurements on long patterns, including
PRBS23, PRBS31, and live traffic
• Compliant jitter measurements such as:
◦ TJ/RJ/DJ/J2/J9/DDPWS

• Precision mask testing using BER contour base
masks
